Orlando’s short-lived 2 game win streak came to an abrupt halt Monday night in Memphis while the Grizzlies continued on to their 11th straight home win. The Iverson-less Grizzlies have turned into one of the bright spots in the NBA this season; a young team, with talent and a coach who isn’t afraid to stand his ground in Lionel Hollins, who won the battle and apparently the war with A.I.. Now the Grizzlies are much better for it. They are very similar to the Oklahoma Thunder who also sport a youthful, well coached cast of players led by Kevin Durant, who continues to improve and impress. How Kevin Pritchard still has a GM position in Portland after missing the boat on Durant, electing instead to draft Greg “Droppin Trou” Oden, boggles my mind? Staying true to form, the Magic came out bombing from long range once again, putting up 35 three point field goals, seemingly oblivious to the fact “Superman” was being guarded by Marc Gasol(who looks more like Dan Aykroyd on the basketball court, than his brother Pau Gasol) and Zack Randolph, two of the worst athletes in the NBA. Dwight still managed to do his damage, collecting 27 [...]

The Magic beat the T-Wolves on Wednesday (I know it’s late but I’ve been working!) and seem to keep having things fall just right in spite of the injuries that have ravaged them. Wednesday’s game was great in a different way though. Turk, Dwight and Lewis did their usual in combining for 68 of the Magic’s 100 point night, but a new face stepped in and took advantage of his opportunity to show and prove. Introducing Courtney Lee! Lee had yet to play 30 minutes or get double digit points in his glorious 14 game career. That’s over now as Lee stepped up to play 34+ minutes and dropped 19 off the bench to help beat the Wolves 100-89. Now I’m not declaring this guy the next big thing yet, but he looked very good the other night and it’s nice to see this guy get the anti-Reddick treatment in his rookie season. Maybe the Magic are more forced now to play this guy than they were to play JJ in his rookie campaign, but it was in the back of my head coming in that maybe they were going to do the same thing with C-Lee. Nope! Now we need to [...]

Sorry it’s late but it was a long workday yesterday. The Magic beat up the Thunder in Oklahoma City on Wednesday 109-92. Dwight Howard got off something fierce, he had 30/19 to go with 10 blocks that put his league leading total at 35 and gave him his first triple double of the year. He got help from the other four starters who scored in double digits, led by Jameer Nelson and Mickael Pietrus who both scored 17. Turk was off a little while scoring 15 and Rashard Lewis hasn’t come out of his “slump” yet either. This is what the Magic were looking for from Pietrus and Nelson. This team needs these guys to step up outside, especially when Turk is off. Just imagine how good the offense could be if Ra-Soft Lewis ever started scoring consistently like he’s been expected to since coming over in the sign-and-trade deal that got him six years and $118 million. I don’t think we can label him a bust and it’s too early to really call him a true disappointment yet, but he’s working on it. It was a nice victory on the road but we can’t get over excited about, [...]
